The theory of a Separate Nutrition
last years in our country appears more and more than adherents of the theory of a separate nutrition. It was developed by American dietician Herbert Shelton. Advantage of this method consists that it is not connected with observance of a strict diet. However, in Shelton opinion, it is impossible to mix during one reception peep products for which digestion the various chemical environment is required. For mastering one products for example rich with fiber (meat, fish, milk, cheese, fruit), is necessary the acid environment; carbohydrates (cereal and flour products, the vegetables rich with carbohydrates, sweets) - alkaline, and for others (mushrooms, nuts, salad, vegetative and animal oils, tomatoes, pepper) - neutral.
If processes go simultaneously, they stir each other: probably incomplete digestion, formation of toxic substances and thereof loading on a liver. Herbert Shelton have seen decision in separate reception of “incompatible” products. Speaking easier, it is impossible to mix fibers with carbohydrates. For example, (I studied this diet itself and even tried “to sit down” on it in five months after childbirth when it was necessary to stop to nurse) it is impossible to eat macaroni with meat. Macaroni - carbohydrate food, meat - albuminous. Such meal, according to the theory, is incompatible.
The neutral food is, basically, vegetables. Neutral in a context of the theory they are called because it is possible to eat them and with carbohydrate food, and with albuminous. The same macaroni, licking lips on a slice of meat and mentally postponing its eating up on then, it is possible to eat, we shall admit, with a cauliflower. Thumbing through the cooking book by a classical variant of this theory, I was convinced, that there is more than half of recipes practically impossible to prepare. The reason that many dishes are recommended from plants, grasses which grow far far away!
What do I think of this theory?
I believe, that its elements to observe it is possible. But greater care is necessary. Sometimes at all most it would be desirable to eat in common some products. It would be desirable to chew separately яблочко, separately to eat a cutlet. But personally I very much love dishes of my parents: Russian kitchen. And under the theory it turns out, that - a borshch (red-beet soup) - it is impossible to eat an ancient dish in a habitual kind, in fact it with a potato (the potato is not ranked as neutral products) and meat; and so about many dishes. It is a pity…
Is this diet can be dangerous?
There are any data confirmed by experience of young women that can. Within the limits of consultations of the gynecologist one girl asked advice of the doctor in connection with that very strictly following a diet, it has grown thin for some months at 15kgs. At it were gone monthly, and it, planning the child, could not become pregnant. But such can occur if too to take a great interest in any of diets. In all the feeling of a measure and prudence is necessary. This theory has not found scientific acknowledgement. Digestion - process complex and have many levels, begins it in an oral cavity and proceeds in a stomach and an intestines. Environment in a stomach, as is known, sour, and in a duodenal gut (an initial department of a thin gut) sour contents of a stomach will be neutralized and even alkalined, therefore any product will get both in sour, and in the alkaline environment. Besides for splitting fibers, fats and carbohydrates there are the various enzymes, “adequating” everyone for “site”. And problems carry out the these enzymes irrespective of, you only have eaten a cutlet or have added to it a potato.
